USB driver is the key point to connect your Android device to Windows computer. With the development of technology, USB cable is not only the tool to charge, but also to connect your Android device to computer. And if you want to recover important data, transfer files or fix system problems, you also need to connect Android device to Windows computer.

But the key point is not the USB cable, but USB driver. The USB driver is a piece of software that needs to be installed on your PC to connect your Android device in ADB/Fastboot/MTP modes. Most of the Android users need it while trying to root their device or flashing system images. Without proper USB drivers on your PC, you can’t use any Android tool which is very crucial for any Android enthusiast.

Under the Other devices, double click Universal Serial Bus(USB) controllers. On the pop-up window, simply choose the second one - Browse my computer for driver software. The path should be: 'C:Program FilesCommon FilesAppleMobile Device SupportDrivers' (If you had changed your iTunes installing path, please follow your own path.).

If your Android device, connected with the right USB cable, can’t detected by AnyMP4 software on your Windows computer, here is the solution for you.

  1. Step 1 — Download and extract the Android USB Driver to your PC. Step 2 — Click Start (Windows) - Control Panel - Device Manager (Select Device Manager). Step 3 — On the Device Manager window find and click on computer name to select Add legacy hardware. Step 4 — Select Next.
  2. However, be aware that when the Selective Suspend feature is disabled, all USB host controller drivers (and therefore all USB ports and connected USB devices) in the system are affected. Therefore, your computer cannot suspend any USB devices that are connected to it, and the USB devices can continue to use power while connected to the computer.

Improvements and fixes

This update includes a fix for an incorrect device driver (“Microsoft – WPD – 2/22/2016 12:00:00 AM - 5.2.5326.4762”) that was released by a third-party on March 8, 2017 that affected a small group of users with USB connected phones or other media devices that rely on Media Transfer Protocol (MTP). If the driver is on your system, when any of these devices are connected, Windows will try to install this driver. These devices will not be connected until the driver is removed. This incorrect driver was removed from Windows Update the same day, but it may have been downloaded to your computer. After installing this update the incorrect driver will be removed.

How to get this update

This update will be downloaded and installed automatically from Windows Update. To get the stand-alone package for this update, go to the Microsoft Update Catalog website.
